EATING DISORDER TREATMENT

THE DATA

Eating Disorders in the United States have reached epidemic proportions.  It is estimated that between 8 and 10 million Americans have an eating disorder (10% are men).  And, this number does not include all the millions of other individuals who struggle with their weight, their body image, and their relationship with food but do not actually have an eating disorder.  Other studies estimate that 61% of American adults are either overweight or obese. Unfortunately, kids are not immune – 1 in 6 children are estimated to struggle with childhood and adolescent obesity. Additionally, we are also finding that our culture’s obsession with health is leading to another eating disorder called Orthorexia.

To make this epidemic even more difficult to address,

over the last decade we have learned that

Diets Just Don’t Work!

Because I see so many of my clients, friends and loved ones struggle with food; studying and treating eating related issues are my passion.

I am Certificate through the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (“LAISPS”) in the treatment of Eating Disorders.

HELP IS AVAILABLE.

In my work with clients who struggle with weight, food and body image issues I use an integrative approach.  First, we work together in a safe and nurturing environment to explore and understand your unique food/weight related issues. Then, together we create a plan that addresses the feelings, thoughts and habits that contribute to your pain.  Rather than trying one more diet, together we explore what is underneath the food/weight struggle.  Together we heal the pain and develop self-care and stress management skills that help food move back into its rightful spot.
